Flogging Molly released their new album "The Speed of Darkness" today. These guys are one of my favorite bands ever. I remember going to Warped Tour with my friend when I was like 14(?) and being in the pit and just having a blast. Afterwards, my buddy and I went to meet the band, bought t-shirts, and got our hats signed! That memory just cemented them in my mind as just a class act, as well as having a top ten slot in Birdman's favorite musicians.
This new album isn't as hard edged as the ones that go before it. The first few songs (especially the title track) hearken back to their punk roots, but the vast majority are a lot more acoustic based. It's not selling out as much as Dave King, the singer, maturing. Overall, a great album, and take a look at the tasters we've provided for you below.

Summer Mixin': Round 1
Aloha! It's finally gotten a bit warmer here in good ole IL, and with summer comes a new batch of summerish (not a word) mixes (word). After a few days of scouting I dug up a few tracks that'll help kick off the warm weather right. Most of these are relatively new (except for the Animale Remix...which is just badass), and hopefully the next set will be posted sometime soon. Grab some lemonade, a lawn chair, and enough speakers to shake the neighborhood; summer is officially in session.

Brand New Music by Br& New
So this dude emailed me from Soundcloud telling me to check out his stuff, saying that it was pretty heavily Mau5-influenced and that Kaskade had commented on his music and that even Paul Oakenfold was playing it. I decided to check it out, and I was very impressed. This is a name to watch- beautiful buildups, pretty laid back drops, and it really hearkens back to the Mau5's progressive roots. Definitely worth checking out, and expect big things from this dude in the future.
All of this stuff is out on le iTunes.
My favorite right now is Night Drive, but they are all worth checking out. The Algorithm is a beautiful track too.

Trolley Snatchaaaa
One of the undisputed kings of the massive filthy drop is Trolley Snatcha. This dude just seems to pull out all the stops. Perfect for a Sunday morning/ late Saturday night when it may take just a bit extra to get you fired up.
Songs: The Future was the first Trolley Snatcha song I've ever heard, and man that thing dropped through the fricking floor. Definitely worth your while, and has a pretty cool sample- "Gentlemen, I give you... the future."
Tek Your Time was originally a collab by Doctor P and Chase and Status, which then got remade by Trolley Snatcha. That's a massive lineup, obviously worth a listen.
We Rock the Forest sort of reminds me of Castle Crashers for some reason, but I like it.
Those are probably my top three Trolley Snatcha songs at the moment, proceed with the others as you see fit. All are tasty.

DJ CamBam
Alright, this kid is a friend of mine from high school and is trying to break into the scene. He hasn't really produced a whole lot, but has made some pretty banging mixes. You can check out his soundcloud page here but here are some of the mixes that he's done so far. All of these are able to be downloaded. Also, since he's one of our "featured artists," you can read a short little bio under the "Featured Artist" page.

New Progressive
Well, here are two new songs I found on the Hype Machine today, I like both of them. Pretty calm, pretty progressive house type things. Pretty chill, check them out.
Filterheadz- Everything Explained has a pretty sick little buildup, very subtle, nothing where the world is crashing down, very relaxing tune.
Joris Voorn's song The Deep has a nice little melody, reminds me of somebody, but I'm not sure who. If you have any thoughts, let us know in the comments.

Lets get down to the (Nit)ty (Grit)ty
Another artist I haven't been able to get enough of as of late, Nit Grit's known for producing quality music quite consistently. Dirty dubstep, chillstep, and scary tracks galore, this guy's definitely got a knack for electronic music. Below you'll find six songs that do a great job of showing just how versatile of an artist he is. Enjoy.
(Hint: If you have to choose two, Hyphycide and Prituri Se Planinata are the way to go.)

OFWGKTA- Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All
If you haven't heard of Odd Future, it's time to man up. These guys are taking over the game right now, offering a fresh voice in what has been a stale scene. Made up of over 60 people, (but only 11 rap) there is something for everyone, from Frank Ocean's R&B jams to Tyler, The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt who offer a lot harder edged music. These guys are worth checking out because they offer something to the scene that has been lacking for a long time- realism.

SFTC Top 10 Songs: Week 1
Hello!
This post kicks off the first of many Top 10 songs of week posts we plan to have here at Stereo From the Crypt. Compiled by Birdman and yours truly, we felt these 10 songs were the best of the one's we posted this week/thus far. We are also introducing the usage of a music player, which should allow for a seamless stream of good music. We're still working on download links and a more integrated music player, but this is what we've got so far. Enough jabber about plans, here are the top 10 songs of the week. Enjoy!

Arion My Wayward Son
An artist I've been watching for a few months now, Arion has some absolutely beautiful dubstep remixes. Below are three I just can't seem to get enough of. Enjoy.
#1 Arion - Pokémon (Dubstep Remix) HD
Hold onto your childhoods folks, this one's a bumpy ride. After nostalgia-ing somethin fierce, the bass line attacks without holding back. It's super effective. Some serious rare-(ear)candy right here.
#2 LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem (Arion Dubstep Remix)
Liked the original, like this one even more. Starts off with a synthy intro (to lull the speakers into a false sense of security) and then does its best to blast you to bits....twice.
#3 Skylar Grey - I'm Coming Home (Arion Dubstep Remix)
Just. Beautiful. No ridiculous descriptions, no crazy metaphors, this song still gives me chills countless replays later. Sit back and let this one surround you, you won't be disappointed.

Oh Land - Sun Of A Gun (Jacob Plant Remix)
This song is tearing it up over on the hype machine! A dubstep spin on the original song, Jacob Plant has thrown together some sick bass progression whilst keeping the original tune of the song in tact (i guess that's most remixes....). Definitely one to keep an eye on, this remix has the potential to get big.

Summer Music
Since summer is officially upon us (or at least me) I think it's time to share some of my favorite summer jams. All of these are super old, but all of these are worthy of a listen or at least a spot on the mixtape as you drive through the city with your window down. Protip- try and find the Jamaican influence in all of them. I am so cliched.
Sublime: Doin' Time (This one has to be on the list, sorry guys. If this ISN'T on your mixtape, stop, drop, and kill yourself).
Buck-O-Nine: My Town (This is a San Diego classic, baby. Hometown pride! This also pretty much sums up my summers from when I was 13 until about now).
Damian Marley: Beautiful
Ben Harper: Ground on Down

A Chill Tuesday Morning
As you've probably noticed already, I had a serious case of musical ADD that loves to alternate between rap, dubstep and...well everything else. Woke up this morning seriously jonesin' for some slow, heavy hitting rap and thought you might like a few of the ones I sat back to jam to. (Not really new stuff, but definitely something to roll slow to.) To summarize the would-be captions of these five, we're dealing with rap that was made for car speakers on a hot summer afternoon. Enjoy.

SubVibe & Fuzion - 30 Million
One of the scariest samples/dubstep tracks I've heard. Haunting voices, machine-gunesque breakdowns and nasty bass wobbles, "30 Million: had me shaking in my headphones. This one's terrifyingly good.

Ellie Goulding- The Remixes
So I've been listening to a lot of Ellie Goulding lately and man do I love her voice. However, what I love even more is how exploitable her songs are- there are some absolute fantastic remixes of her songs out there, especially that song "Lights." Here are my top five Ellie Goulding remixes out right now. The number one song on this list is one of my favorite discovered songs of the past year-ish, so that should tell you something.
Number 5- Ellie Goulding: Heartbeats (Cosmonaut Grechko Edit)
Number 4-Ellie Goulding: Lights (Dave Edwards Edit)
Number 3- Ellie Goulding: Lights (Geisha Twins Remix)
Number 2- Ellie Goulding: Lights (Bassnectar Remix)

Hip Hoppin Sunday
I managed to take a break from dubstep for a few hours...err... hour and dug up a few dirty hip hop tracks to jam to.
The first is one by Celph Titled and Apathy, two hard hitting rappers. Violence, rhymes and a solid instrumental, this songs just beggin for a summer afternoon cruise session.
Next up we have another one from Apathy, this time remixing an old classic. Hard rhymes, dirty flow, definitely worth blasting.
Finally we have a track from Rhymefest that many of you are probably already well aware of. The song's title is "Bullet", and it's a bit more somber/ reflective than the first two, but equally hard-hitting.

Nneka- Heartbeat (Wet Paper Remix)
Some of you guys might know this original song because of that fatty Chase and Status remix, but I found a remix that I like better. Killer piano sample and choppy vocals, but still throwing in the heaviness of the bass.
Also, here's the Chase and Status remix if you haven't heard it. Different style, goes a bit bigger than the Wet Paper mix.

Puppykicker
As you may know, I'm from San Diego, so I wanted to check out the dubstep scene there. I know the scene is pretty big in LA, but I wanted to see what my hometown boys are producing. I came across a number of names, like Tapir, EshOne, and CRMNL who are doing some big things, but my favorite from back home has got to be my man Puppykicker. The scene in San Diego seems to be not focused on the huge screaming wobbles like what's big right now, but bass-heavy, introspective, shoegazing dub. Props to sddubstep.com for showing me the way.
Check out this remix of Imogen Heap's "Headlock" by Puppykicker.
Scary dark dubs from Tapir, headphones on or turn up your subs and drive your neighbors nuts.

Lazy Saturdays
What's up guys, it's just a lazy Saturday for me over here in South Bend. I'm leaving to go home Monday morning, and I literally have nothing to do until then. So here's a three-spot of lazy, chilled out, late-night tunes to set you on your way.
First one: Discovered this on Hype Machine, off of GottaDanceDirty. Boozebus- Wasser (Original Mix). Wasser means Water in German, which definitely makes some sense in the fluidity of this tune.
Up next is a song that Deadmau5 mixed into his set in Provacateur, New York on 9/14/10. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Chymera- Arabesque.
Last but not least, a song that seems to remind everyone of Tim Berg's Bromance, but I think is much better, is Gregory's Theme by Basto! Pretty awesome little mix. Enjoy.

Backlash - An 8Bit Dubstep Track
Mixing a bit of Chiptune/8-bit with a nasty background bassline, this song's got some serious kick. Also serves as a demonstration of what a SNES would sound like if it was struck by lightning during an earthquake. Chill spaces between crazy drops, this one's definitely worth a listen.
Drop the Lime- Hot as Hell (Canblaster Remix)
This is one of the hottest tunes out right now... funky little mix complete with an Ennio Morricone (Think of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" western-type movies) breakdown. Absolutely stunning, great banger to throw on at a party or just to chill out to.
Charlie Darker- Blood and Iron
Nasty, heavy little tune dropped from a relatively unknown producer, Charlie Darker. Pretty genre-defying, I'd say. A mix between electro and dubstep, with a little industrial roots to shake up the game. Pretty sick, worth a listen. Enjoy!

Florence & The Machine - Dog Days Are Over (Produce & Destroy Dubstep Remix)
Solid Remix that keeps a healthy mix of the original song and dubsteppery.
Give'er a listen!
